| Nowadays, food safety problems happen frequently; therefore, there appears a variety of strategies to face them in our society, including both individual action and organized behavior, also spontaneous and system behavior. People’s food safety measures are the substitute of the lack of trust function, and it reflects the characteristics of low social trust in our country. Also, it is related with China’s social transition. During this process, old social trust structure was broken but new one has not been set up. In this context, S city appears food safety action, the’food group’and ’(farmers’) mart’ is its symbols.This article pays attention to how food safety actors seek safe food through forming group and establishing organization; in the process what problems they have faced, how they solve them and how should we look at their behavior.The conclusion is that actors can find such safe food with unique skills and relationship, by constructing trust; they can get the food they want and find the substitute of the lack of trust function. But they must pay relatively high costs, so the development process was not so smoothly and the prospect is not very clear. But in the process of getting safe food through forming group and organization, they formed the posture and temperament of facing public inspection and supervision. They have the features of inclusiveness, openness and form a positive trust, which has the function of the middle group, useful to construct social trust. Therefore, the meaning of the food safety action maybe more is not whether they can find safe food and whether this model can expand and copy, but in the process of action, there produces publicity (the trust structure of the’food group’and’(farmers) mart’), trust and the society.Food safety action has long development history in foreign countries. Although China’s has just appeared, but the people join in it become more and more and have more and more influence. Still, there are many hidden trouble behind the development. Most of food safety actors’are middle class. This middle class identity shows that the food safety risk is allocated not equal between stratums.Food safety action sends out many signals. When there is no force to contend against the government’s strength, what weapons can the weak have and what ways can people express themselves? Is the idea of the actors a kind of thought similar to religion and resist without words? Will it is a new trend and a new path to develop China’s society, which came up from the inside to sublimate and exceed? Add reciprocity to the market and carry the ideas of reforming the society in daily life, namely the politicization of the daily life, whether this is a new social production mode? Middle class have great potential to change the society with the consciousness and action, should we pay more attention to them? Forming groups for action to response to the risk, is it a way to embed after China’s individualization?Provided opportunity, the author hope to study the farmers’mart in Beijing in-depth, to explore the cultural and conscious roots of the action and thus have good answers of the above questions. |
