With the development of power system, we lay the power cable into the pipeline automatically instead of using manual work. So that we can not only prevent ourselves from low efficiency and inconvenience, but also improve the quality of laying power cable, prolong the life-span of the power cable and ensure the stable power supply to the citizens.This paper introduced a new power cable pipeline monitoring robot system. It was used to lay the power cable into the pipeline and at the same time monitor the inner situation of the pipeline. Besides, it could clean the concrete rubbish in the pipeline. Such system provided an effective way of laying the power cable and brought a broad economic benefit to the society. This project was cooperated with Jiang Su power company. It had great national extended application prospects because of its low cost and high performance.First of all, this paper introduced the development status nowadays and applications of pipeline robots in and out of China. Then, based on the application industry of our system, we brought the framework design of the monitoring system of the power cable pipeline robot system. Developed the hardware platform based on 32 bit ARM7TDMI embedded micro-processor as the core. Extended kinds of periphery circuits for the hardware system.The emphasis of such paper was on the design and debugging of the hardware development. Based on such a platform, I developed the software system and the realization of the CAN bus communication.The main technology of this monitoring system was based on the application of CMOS color image sensor and the digital image processing chip. The system also included the technology of JPEG encoding and decoding, CAN bus and I2C bus communications, keyboard control , LCD display and other related technologies.At last, we successfully realized a stable, comprehensive and extendable monitoring system.
