With the increasing popularity of computer and network technology, information security has become a hot topic and key academic and business circles of common concern. As the complexity and endless attacks of security features, there has urgent need for more research and development of safety, efficient, reliable information security technology. Academia has been exploring to introducing some non-traditional methods to novel field of information security. Statistics show that more than80%of the Internet traffic is coved by images, audio and video files at present. Security of these multimedia information dissemination determines the entire computer network information security lifeline for sure.In this thesis, at first we analyzed and discussed the modern cryptography encryption technology and common models of chaos theory, then we introduced fractional chaos theories. Also we put forward specific methods of fractional chaotic systems for images, audio and video files encryption on the basis of experimental analysis. We took fractional order Chen chaotic system for example and put forward three specific encryption algorithms respectively, wrote encryption programs, conducted simulation experiments on Matlab and gave encryption effectiveness analysis at last.Through experimental analysis, using the fractional order chaotic system for encryption on digital images, audio, video and other multimedia files has achieved good practical results. At the same time, the algorithms are fast, safe and easy in view of the good encryption features of the fractional order chaotic system. In this paper, study on the fractional chaos not only expands and enriches fractional chaos theory research, but also provides new theories of multimedia information encryption and guides a new direction.
