Abstract/Summary:
With the rapid development of technology, humanoid robots have achieved outstanding stability and functionality in the past decades. Nowadays, it is also regarded as one of the most promising candidates to help us with problems in human beings’ normal lives. The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) Design of a video wireless manipulated systemIn this dissertation, a video wireless surveillance system controlled by smart phone is designed on humanoid robot DARwIn. Smart phone and DARwIn are formatted under the same LAN through Wi-Fi network. By doing so, videos from the robot can be remotely displayed on the smart phone. Besides, people also can send commands to manipulate motions of the robot through smart phone.(2) Compression and transmission of videosIn this system, the capture, compression and transmission of videos are completed by the humanoid robot under Linux system. Video capture is realized by V4L2interface. Then the size of the image is further reduced by compressing it into JPEG format using mjpg-steamer. Finally, the compressed image is transported to the smart phone via HTTP protocol.(3) Design and implemention of a Web interface on Smart PhoneIn this dissertation, a Web video manipulated interface is also designed independently of the smart phone’s operation system, by which, the display and control of the video is realized. With the help of AJAX, videos can be updated without updating the whole page asynchronously. As a result, the system archives faster transmitting speed and smoother display of the video.Experimental shows that the video can be transmitted from the humanoid robot to the web browser in the wireless local area network successfully. What is more, it is compatible to different systems and smart phones. Users can send manipulate commands to the robot through smart phone web browser, manipulating the robot walking to different direction, and controlling the head moves to change the view of the robot. The experimental data demonstrated that the time of commands transmitting using smart phone is0.7second slower than that using computers. However, taking consideration of the phone’s portability and popular, the delay time is acceptable.
