Optical molecular imaging plays a very important role in molecular imagingtechnology, and it has high sensitivity and low price, which makes it becoming afast-growing biomedical imaging technology. Amongst optical molecular imagingtechniques, bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging with their simple and intuitivefeatures, become the ideal methods of noninvasive in vivo studies of small animalimaging. By optical molecular imaging technique, we can observe the activity and thedistribution of labeled genes and cells in living animals in real time, which provides agood way for research and development process of disease and drug screening. The invivo optical molecular imaging system of small animals is very important for theresearch and development in optical molecular imaging.The in vivo optical molecular imaging system of small animals can carry out imageacquisition and image processing in two imaging modalities-bioluminescence andfluorescence imaging. WinMI software which is responsible for system control, dataacquisition, and post-processing analysis of the image, is the center of the system. Thispaper focuses on optimization of acquisition module and implementation ofdual-modality integration of WinMI software, and introduces the research, developmentstatus and significance of optical molecular imaging. This paper firstly introduces theprinciple of optical molecular imaging and software platform development tools. Then,this paper introduces optimization of acquisition module, and implements optimizationof sequence acquisition process and multithreading acquisition. In the processing ofmultiple data formats, WinMI software achieves a normalized format and option settingmanagement for different data formats. Finally, this paper describes dual-modalityintegration system consisting of optical imaging and CT system, and implementsregistration and energy mapping of two-dimensional data. In the fluorescent imageprocessing and optimization module, this paper describes the image data processing, theimprovement and optimization of image segmentation algorithm, and gets desiredresults. Meanwhile, WinMI software optimizes the processing of region of interest(ROI)in data analysis, strengthening the comfort of software interface.
