With the development of virtual reality technology and panoramic imagingtechnology, and the improving of the network speed, people are no longer satisfiedwith the traditional two-dimensional images as well as the traditional website. Withgrowing interest in Virtual Reality, there has been a dramatically increasing demand formore realistic images and more humanized website. This also contributed to thedevelopment of virtual reality panoramic technique. More and more virtual realitytechnology for panorama display is used in people’s daily life and work. Such as streetmaps, visualization reservation system, virtual tours, etc. However, behind the resultsof a panoramic display need a lot of manpower and material resources. This will leadto a fact that a part of small businesses and ordinary users are difficult to show theinformation to the consumer or friends in a virtual reality way. There has been adramatically increasing demand for tools to provide Virtual Reality in automatic andstreamlined ways.In order to meet the demand for virtual reality tools,this paper presents a flexiblehigh-performance platform based on J2EE framework, called VRViewer, developed forsupporting interactive Reality3D, including Building service, Production service, andAPI service, all of these three services are using RESTful style. Building serviceenables creation and management of contents of Virtual Reality3D. Production serviceserves the published contents to client applications, and API service provides clientapplications a set of JavaScript APIs to embed Virtual Reality3D Viewer and interactwith VRViewer. With VRViewer, people without technical backgrounds can easilycreate, edit, and publish contents of Reality3D. Applications based on the platform cangreatly improve their user experience with flexibility and lower cost.
