The search engine is an efficient tool for users to retrieve useful information from mass data on the Internet. With the expansion of the Internet, the growth of user groups and new technology rapid development, the information demand of users become more and more diverse. The search engine is facing increasing challenges. Mathematics search has become hot and difficult problems in information science, it is very important for science field. General text search engines have lots of limitations on searching mathematical formulas and mathematical symbols, which cannot satisfy the demand of users.Mathematical formula has two-dimensional structure and complex meaning. Two formulas with different form may have the same meaning and a query formula could be a sub-formula of a formula. Most existing math search system is based on the presentation of mathematical formulas which is not for semantic search, as well as for sub-formula, it is not give discussion and research in-depth.Therefore, this paper researches some index model of existing search engines on their construction methods and techniques. The project brings CAS in mathematics search to construct a semantic search engine for math formulas. The Index model mainly uses the abstract-tree inverted index structure. Before index, we preprocess mathematic formulas through sub-formula extraction and normalization to improve equivalence of user query data and the data in the database. The project tries to integrate math web search with mathematics computation to provide a convenient and useful intelligent system for users. It is hoped to be a new research area.
