Augmented reality is a fusion technology of virtual and reality. It intends to registerthe virtual information generated by computer on the real scene accurately, and theenriched image is displayed to user, so it can enhance the user’s sensory enjoyment. Thistechnology is an extension of virtual reality, and involves computer vision, computergraphics, three dimension display technology and other fields. The key issues inaugmented reality can be summarized as display technology, tracking technology, andregistration technology. The tracking technology is the key to affect augmented realitysystem, but also is the hot issue. With the continuous development of augmented realitytechnology, its application field has been rapidly expanded, including industrial, medical,military, entertainment, and some other areas. What’s more, users have higher demands,so the interactive technology in augmented reality has been developed, a variety ofinteraction methods were came true, so its development is more and more close to realitydemand.To meet users’ requirements, enhance integrative ability in an environment and getcloser to nature features, this thesis proposes a method for real-time tracking based on themultiple color marker, and achieves a new interaction method. This method adopts themarkers with different colors in the video images, an adaptive threshold is first used tobinaryzation, to adapt to detect the different color markers’ contours in the capturedimage. The detected contour is then corrected to achieve template matching. The methodthat combining template image matching and color matching is taken for tracking. Theimage matching is first used to guarantee the accuracy of the pattern. To exactly obtainthe target in the images, color matching needs to be further considered for the targetimage. A color matching method which combines the L1L2L3model with the rgb is presented. So marker tracking is implemented by the combination of two kinds ofmatching. The camera parameters are worked out according to the data from color andmarker matching, and a virtual object is registered onto the marker in the environment. Inaddition, this paper proposes a new interactive method of interaction in augmentedreality based on color marker. User can operate virtual object by touching different colorareas of color marker. In the process of interaction, the object occlusion is solved bycombination color matching and tracking corners. Then through detecting line to judgethe touching area, so the interaction can be realized by these methods. The experimentalresults show that this method can accurately register the virtual object on the markers inthe video images and real-time track the object. Interactive operation is convenient andcorrect by using the method. Compared to the ARToolKit software, the method is muchbetter to adapt to varying illumination and environment.
