With the rapid development of information science and technology, the social demand for informatization is growing in various fields. Wireless communication has been applied in all aspects in society, from national defense to daily life. The antenna is the essential tool for such wireless communication. In this way, whether or not the antenna can perform well greatly affect our life. In recent years, aircraft communication technology has been rapidly progressing, and the aircraft functionality gradually enhancing as well. Associated with it, the number of antennas on the plane has increased. However, the electromagnetic compatibility of antenna has always been a complex problem. As a result, broadband and miniature airborne antenna is drawing more and more attention. In this thesis, a novel airborne in VHF band antenna is designed under such background.Firstly, the background and significance of development of antenna is illustrated in this thesis. Then the basic theory of antenna and the research method for broadband and miniature antenna are introduced. In the following chapters a new type of sleeve antenna is put forward, and the development and principle of sleeve antenna is presented, which provides a theoretical basis for design of airborne antenna mentioned above. The article focuses on the whole design process of VHF airborne antenna, that is, from the initial measurement to the simulation optimization applied of software. Finally an optimal scheme is obtained, in which the low frequency property of VHF airborne antenna has an obvious improvement than that in the past.
