A Study On Bilingual Dictionary Publishing In The View Of Dissipative Structure Theory

Dictionary is a concentrated reflection of national and ethnic culture. The dictionary publisher Lu Erkui said that:" the culture of a country is connected with its dictionary. If there is no dictionary, no culture at all." Cai also pointed out:" Academic growth and decline of a society, to see whether and how much the various dictionaries to know." Visible, dictionary plays an important role in the cultural construction of the country and the nation. Bilingual dictionary is an important part of dictionaries. As a tool, the publication of bilingual dictionary can meet the needs of the people to learn foreign languages and enhance people’s foreign language level. As a cross-cultural media, publishing bilingual dictionaries can promote the dissemination and exchange of different languages and cultures. As a universal tool of language and culture, bilingual dictionary publishing contributes to the promotion of national language and culture, which enhances national cultural soft power and has a strong practical value for China’s economic construction, scientific and technological development, and cultural prosperity and so on. Since the reform and opening up, China’s bilingual dictionary publishing has a rapid development. But under the condition of market economy, the Bilingual Dictionary Publishing has also been some negative phenomena: piracy, adulteration, plagiarism, chaos. How to make bilingual dictionary publishing turn from chaos to order, tortures the dictionary publisher’s nerves.Dissipative structure theory is a methodology system which has widely used in various branches of the humanities and social sciences research. It studies how complex open system evolutes from chaos to order and stability or from a state of lower order to a higher ordered state, through the exchange with the outside material, information, energy. At present, the theory of dissipative structures rarely used in publishing research. The systematic study of bilingual dictionaries publishing is also scanty. The article from the perspective of the dissipative structure theory, considers the Bilingual Dictionary Publishing system as an open, far from equilibrium, and nonlinear system, and construct its entropy and dissipative structure evolution model. Based on a comprehensive statistical data, this paper analyzes trends and stage features of development of our country Bilingual Dictionary Publishing System since the reform and opening up, combined with changes in the external entropy flow. On the other hand, it analyzes its accumulated problems, combined with internal entropy production factor. Finally, aiming at the existing problems, this article proposes some strategy, from the introduction of external negative entropy and suppressing internal entropy angles, to optimize the overall function of Bilingual Dictionary Publishing System and provide a reference for the orderly development of it.
