The system was designed to guide and control the machine of layingside mode of highway. The machine is guided by the white guide line,which will make the machine move in direction of the white guide line. thesystem is divided into three parts, including the auto-oriented subsystem,video transmission subsystem and the remote control subsystem.The auto-oriented subsystem introduced boundary slope based guidelines algorithm though the features that guide line in the window isapproximately linear, the algorithm will quickly identify the type of theguide line direction, so as to correct the machine’s forward directiontimely. Transmission control subsystem adopts simplified H.264compression algorithm to compress the video image to save the bandwidth,And the transmission of the video image from the machine to the videoserver using the WLAN wireless network. The operator of the remotecontrol subsystem such as down, forward and steering and so on iscontrolled by the Remote control subsystem.The main work includes system design and research based on theapplication background of the system, find out the difficulties of thescheme and solve them, highlights guide line recognition and videocompression technology, then get the experiment results and analysis itfurther though testing it. Firstly, the paper introduces the background andcurrent state in and abroad. Then it details the design of the system and themain technology and algorithm used in the oriented line recognition andvideo compression. In order to make it matches the applicationenvironment very well new algorithms are proposed by comparing theexisting algorithms. Last but not least, the paper describes the hardwareequipment of the system which is selected based on both of theperformance and economic.
