As people improve the reliability and validity of the requirements of business process management, workflow management of scientific research has become the core technology for research organizations to achieve their business process automation. Establishing workflow model is the key to implement workflow technology, the advantage and disadvantage of the model is directly related to the level of follow-up performance and rationality for management systems.For the status of animal research management process for manual and paper-based office, this paper used the improved modeling method that is colored Petri nets (CPN) to build animal research management process model, analyzed and verified rationality and correctness of the model, provided theoretical support for feasibility assessment system.This paper makes needs analysis of animal research management system, it defined color sets of animal resources to design libraries and tokens; According to the state changes of animal experiments process to the design changes; Using implementation of conduct rules to design the structure of the arc; Using top-down or bottom-up approach of substitution transition to gradually build animal research management system for each business sub-processes. Follow the above steps of Colored Petri net modeling to construct four animal management process models, namely the overall workflow model of animal experiments, animal order sub-model, experiment orders sub-model, laboratory assessment sub-model. Based on the above models, the paper uses CPN TOOLS on the model for the state space analysis and simulation in aspects of boundedness, home state, activity and fairness. This paper is completed to verify the correctness of animal management process model. Then, based on the rationality principle of workflow net, it were designed basic structure, loop structure, sequence structure, parallel structure of four basic workflow structure as a building block, step by step to achieve a reasonable analysis of animal research laboratory process model. This paper make a detailed exposition of the animal ordering process, first, simplify the animal ordering process to remove color sets, arc function and other information of model. Secondly, to design several basic building blocks of a workflow with rationality. Finally, it makes use of workflow building blocks to build a combination of animal ordering process step by step. If it replaces the transition structure of basic building blocks by repeatedly, and can construct to complete the animal ordering process, then the model is considered reasonable. After confirming the correctness and rationality of four animal experiment management process model, this paper adopts the technology of the JBPM workflow engine to achieve animal research management system.Practical application effect shows that system has a user-friendly interface, good process control and management features, generally improving productivity of animal scientific research management and better support the needs of animal experiment management.
