Wireless local area networks (WLAN) is a high-speed data transmission systemthat is suitable for indoor coverage. As a new access network technology, wirelesslocal area networks can provide flexible and convenient network solutions, which isan effective way out of the wired network environment limitation. However, thecurrent WLAN hotspots for Telecom are mainly distributed in high-density places ofbusinesses and households, such as airports, government offices, star-rated hotels andother hot spots. With the growing popularity of WLAN technology, the range ofWLAN hot spots will expand with the growth of users, and the phenomenon ofconcentrated users in the local area will appear. In addition, multiple operators maycoexist in the same area. If the WLAN network planning is not reasonable enough, itwill lead to the mutual interference between the networks and the waste of radiosources. Therefore, the problem of the WLAN indoor coverage planning will improvethe coverage of wireless communication indoor distribution theory and guide thenetworking design, which has significance in application.Combining with the present S city situation of service development, the coveragetargets and the other factors that affecting coverage at present, the thesis investigatesTelecom WLAN indoor coverage planning schemes in S city. The main work is asfollows:The development status of WLAN at China and abroad and the fundamentaltechnologies of IEEE802.11Series are elaberated. By the analysis of current situationof WLAN indoor coverage in S city, the thesis presents the necessity of the WLANindoor coverage planing in S city. The common model of radio wave propagationprediction of indoor WLAN are summarized, and the WLAN indoor propagationmodels at2.4GHz and5GHz are investigated. As an example of a particular indoorenvironment in the2.4GHz band, the log distance propagation loss prediction modelis used to determine the WLAN indoor propagation model and calculation the pathloss coefficient. The WLAN indoor coverage design schemes in S city are mainly studied. Takingthe main urban areas of S city as an example, the choice of coverage spots is analyzed. The coverage area is classified according to the regional radius and the number of user access. Based on indoor coverage principle, the theory of planning is used tocomplete the frequency planning. The Telecom WLAN networking structure isillustrated, and two kinds of WLAN indoor coverage construction are presented. Forsome certain indoor coverage spots in S city, the design diagrams of WLAN indoorcoverage planning are given in detail. Then, PoE switches mode is analyzed, theschemes of PoE based on time and the FIT AP-based networking model arepresented. The problems met in WLAN project construction and their solution schemes aregiven, including information collection before the installation, AP installation, antenna installation, feeder and other related facilities installation, ensuring thequality of construction projects. The results have provided a valuable experience forthe specific implementation of a network planning.
