Vehicle characteristic line, which is curve usually obtained from the intersection of twospecific surface of automobile, is the important design element of automobile statisticalmodeling analysis, possessing specific structure constraints and connotation of the morphology.The accurate measurement of the automobile characteristic line is the key of bodywork designand processing quality requirements. With the merits of non-contact, high speed, high precisionand good stability, etc, machine vision measurement technology can effectively meet the needsof modern production. By applying this technology to3d measurement of vehicle characteristicline, it can not only achieve the auto non-contact real-time measurement of automobilecharacteristic line, but also increase the application environment of visual measurement,resulting in a broad application prospect.This paper studies on image measuring of the vehicle feature line using point-arraystructured light technology in machine vision measurement. The following related research workwill be completed:(1) Based on the existing camera calibration model, a new camera imaging model will beset up, considering the lens distortion to calibrate camera parameters. By making tests, the effectof lens distortion on the calibration accuracy was analyzed.(2) Analysis of the influencingfactors on the quality of the structured light spot image will be analyzed; the preprocessing of thestructured light spot image was carried out. By comparing the existing method to extract lightspot center, the Gaussian Curve Fitting method was chosen to extract light strip center.determine a rapid and accurate extraction method for this paper.(3) A simplify the vehiclefeature line to the intersection of two plane; the least squares fitting will be used to Structurelight calibrate the Structure light; Analysis the space characteristics of the structure light and oftransmission line. the engineering method of the straight lines in different planes intersection linewill be studied. Finally, using the available equipments to build an experimental measurementplatform,feasibility and accuracy of the method proposed in this article are verified by comparison to experimental results. And the relevant factors affecting the measurement accuracyof this model are analyzed.
