Video game has overwhelm film become the pillar of culture industry. It is themain driving force of electronic device selling and updating.As the core of games,game engine technologies attract increasing attention. The rise of mobile gamingplatforms provide opportunities for our country to catch up with internationalstandards in the area of game engine technologies. Cocos2d-x is an open-source,easy-to-use, cross-platform2d game engine mainly contributed by Chinese developersand highly welcomed by worldwide game developers, which is to be proud. With theimprovement of performance of mobile devices and battery life, more fantasticgraphics will appear on the screen of mobile devices. Mobile games transfer to3d isan inevitable trend. The Author has been studying computer graphics and3d enginetechnologies and has a long time using Cocos2d-x and understands its architecture aswell. So in this paper, we try to combine the good architecture of Cocos2d-x and3dclassic technologies to design and implement a Cocos2d-x like simple mobile3Dgame engine. We first try to write an extension of Cocos2d-x to let it support3Ddrawing (3D ToolKit for Cocos2d-x). Then to overcome the inherent shortcomings ofextensions, we abandon Cocos2d-x environment and create our independentCocos2d-x like3D game engine.
