Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) is a new technology of broadband access, it uses a single optical fiber access system, and makes the communications of data,voice and video into reality. So it has a wild market. Fiber to the home (FTTH) is the ultimate solution for broadband access, so EPON will become a mainstream of the broadband access technology. Due to its characteristics, excellent properties, closely integration with the network, and excellent performance of broadband access, EPON is considered the main transmission which realizes the integration of three networks. It also considered the main solution of the "last mile" of information and communications users.At present, three mobile operators are constructing the broadband access network strenuously. EPON combines the advantages of PON technology and Ethernet technology, and has good maturities, so it becomes the first choice of the operators. It also has become the first choice of China Telecom, and been used wildly in the market. China Mobile has tried to use it in many cities and has made great progress. The uplink interface will be find on equipments such as routers and voice equipments. More and more kinds of interface will appear on the routers, thus the routers will have stronger function. In2012, telecom operators have started to test EPON on the voice equipments.This paper is based on the actual project, analysis operating principle and composition of EPON, ascertain the general framework of the designing of the system. Secondly, the designing of the hardware and the analysis of the designing of the electric circuit have been finished. Finally, the paper has introduced the debugging of the system and the reliability and practicability of this module.
