Being an important element in multimedia technology,video technology gets moreattention from researchers along with the rapid development of multimedia technology andinformation technology.In order to make video transmission faster,video compressiontechnology is proposed. To be the most widely used video compression standard, H.264hassuperior performance compared with the previous H.263and MPEG-4. For example: highercompression ratio, higher quality and better network adaptability. The success of H.264interms of efficiency increases the cost of complexity, complex operation becomes a constraintto its development. Block-based motion estimation and motion compensation is an importantpart of video coding, it takes account for more than60%of the whole time of encoding, sohow to optimize the motion estimation and guarantee the quality of video coding is a hot issuein today’s video coding algorithm.In this paper, we study the principle of H.264, focus on the coding principle and keytechnology,study the interframe prediction of motion estimation In order to improve thecoding efficiency, on the basis of the existing video coding technology, we propose a motionestimation algorithm based on Jensen-Shannon Divergence similarity (JSD).The algorithmidea is that to detecto the similarity of adjacent frames,if the two adjacent frames scene arealmost the same, then the coded information of the current frame will use the codedinformation of the last frame, so save the intra or inter prediction coding time of currentframe. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithm effectively reduce the encodingtime, but does not affect the code quality, so can ensure the real-time video transmissioneffectively.The efficient of H.264relays on the complex computation, so an effective platform todeal with such complex calculation of H.264is of great significance.TI’s TMS320DM6446platform has the formidable DSP kernel, optimization of accelerator and rich peripheralinterfaces, so is the ideal choice of the video processor. In this paper, combined with thestructure characteristics of DM6446, we transplant the H.264algorithm to DM6446andoptimize it to show its powerful coding performance on the platform...
