From The "News Investigation" To "see": Chaijing Research Dialogue Session Interview

From the very beginning of "Insight", a documentary program broadcasted on CCTV-1channel, Chai Jing and her interview has gained great attention in the public. Bearing the same name of the program, the publication of her new book "Insight" in the end of2012is a great success and best-seller. Once again, Chai Jing became the focus of public attention. Most researches have mainly focused on her interview style, question skills and personal news faith while hardly ever from the perspective of linguistics, not mention of the conversation analysis theory. However, such a perspective is conducive to deepening our research on Chai Jing’s interview dialogues and getting a thorough understanding of her personal news faith. The application of theoretical analysis in this dissertation is originated in the1960s.The American sociologist Sacks (Harvey Sacks) et al put forward and developed this theory on the basis of daily conversation, with the related theory of conversational turn as its key point. The definition, composition, distribution and rules of turn-talking will be conducted in this dissertation for analysis.This thesis samples twenty interviews done by Chai Jing in "News Probe" and "Insight" and uses comparative analysis, document analysis as well as transcription of interviews as the main research methods. Through a statistical analysis of the control of conversational turn, feedback and questioning ways in Chai’s interviews, this paper aims at revealing her interview behavior and the change and progress in this process.This thesis falls into three parts. In the first part, a brief introduction will be made on the development and news faith of the two powerful shows "News Probe" and "Insight" in order to assure their influence on Chai’s interviews; The second part is mainly on the analysis of dialogues in the interviews under the guidance of conversation analysis theory; Finally, according to the result of prior analysis, a summary on the development of Chai Jing’s interview behavior will be presented.
