In order to meet the demands of high-rate and multi-service communication, next generation wireless communication system requires better techniques to increase the data rate and meet the QoS requirements of various services. Cooperative communication which is the combination of relay-based transmission and diversity technology is a virtual MIMO technology. System which adopts cooperative communication can increase the channel capacity and transmission performance. Network coding is a breakthrough in the field of communication area, the basic idea of network coding is that intermediate node should encode the information and transmit them, rather than store and forward simply, network coding can improve the capacity, transmission efficiency and robustness of system.Cooperative communication as an advanced communication technology has been introduced into the802.16m system, and the relay nodes handle and forward the signals they received respectively, which without a doubt is a waste, but also by adopting network coding can break the limit. This paper chose this part as research direction, firstly introduce802.16m including channel coding and Relay technology. Then discuss the principle and application of network coding, optimize old network coding scheme and propose a new network coding scheme. Finally, this paper take into consideration the combination of network coding and cooperative communication, and the simulation based on wireless two-way relay system model is done, the simulation results proved the possibility of application and gain of cooperative network coding in relay-based802.16m systems. For being convenient to research, this paper builds a simulation platform.
