With the fast development of urbanization, the population in the city is increasing rapidly, and people’s going out has become more and more frequent. Therefore, there is no doubt that the problem of transportation has been the first to solve. Public transportation is a main way to travel for the people in the big cities because of its cheap price, widen line distribution, low road occupancy rate, high convenience, safety and little pollution. At the same time, all local governments are eager to develop public transport systems, so the quality of the system may affect the economic development of a city in the future, and is also an important indicator to reflect the degree of the city civilization.This paper makes comparative analysis and researches on several public transport query systems. Combined with the present situation of Bozhou city, an underdeveloped and rapidly developing city in the north of Anhui province, public transportation query system of this city is designed and implemented. This system uses B/S as the architecture structure, MySQL as the backstage database, J2EE as the programming language. The users can log on to this system by a PC or a smartphone to inquire about bus lines.After making an analysis of the demanding for the information of bus query in Bozhou city, the paper carries out the overall design of the system which includes system development environment design, target and structure design, function design and database design etc. The system mainly contains two functional modules: foreground and background module. The foreground module mainly provides the query of bus transfer information, transit site information and bus lines information for users. The transfer query system not only gives priority to the minimum transfer times, at most two times, but also gives consideration on the shortest path. The background is designed for the administrator of the system to update system and maintain the system. At last, by taking a function testing, the result of the testing shows that the response of the system is fast, the interface of it is simple and elegant, and its function is perfect, the operation is also flexible. So this system is of great value for such a city as Bozhou city.
