With the increasing of satellite communication applications and services, the satellite data processing ability must be improved, especially that the communication capacity and transmission data rate directly affects the satellite application level. Laser communication technology in satellite communication systems can be a good solution to the above problems. However, the optical communication modulation technology is directly related to the merits of the merits of the satellite communications link performance, which is also the starting and ending points of this paper. We start from the modulation technique of GEO laser communication link, then find the suitable modulation techniques for GEO communication link by analyzing and studying of the foreign status and development, which can provide a theoretical basis for future technology upgrades and updates.This paper introduces the research significance and application background of satellite optical communications, reviews the typical research plan and development history of foreign satellite optical communication, and analyzes the research status of modulation coding in satellite optical communications. Then it studies the influence of environmental communication link for optical communication, and puts forward the corresponding solutions. It also introduces the source and channel coding, analyzes the modulation technology characteristics, and finally simulates the link communications by software, proposes the application prospect of BPSK modulation in present optical communication.
