With the development of infrared technology, small size, fast process speed and high real-time requirement is needed of modern infrared image signal processor. A miniaturized infrared image signal processor has been designed and realized in this paper.In this paper, we firstly described the infrared image signal processing technology development and application. We discussed basic theory of the model of infrared images, correction and pre-signal processing technology. Secondly, we designed target detection algorithm and multichannel signal filtering algorithm for infrared image signal processor on the basis of theoretical analysis. It has been verified its adaptability. At last, we introduced a signal processor platform design method, a parallel processing architecture was built of a large-scale FPGA (XC5VSX50T-2FFG665I) and two high-performance DSP (TMS320C6416T), and we analyzed the real-time miniature infrared image signal processor.The infrared image signal processor designed in this paper has the characteristics of small size, fast process speed, and real-time detection and recognition to track targets under complex background.
