The formation mechanism and applications of micro structures and structural color of biological surfaces involve optics, physical chemistry, biology, material science, engineering and other fields, which is a multi-discipline interaction subject and has been the research forefront and hot spot internationally. The studies of butterfly wings and their structural colours have been paid more attention by researchers worldwide. This report focuses on the setup of optical systems and the measurement of the surface shape parameters and their optical properties in visual light through the observation of butterfly wing scales using optical microscopes. The bionic micro structures of butterfly wings on the iron-nickel were fabricated by laser interference lithography, and analyzed using the optical microscope. This work provides a guideline for the optimization design of the micro structures and surface morphology of optical devices with the functions of detection, absorption, reflection and transfer and their fabrication.
