With the rapid development of wireless communication network, more and more people realize the importance to enhance the reliability of information transmission in the communication network. Error control technologies, is the key to guarantee the reliability of the mobile communications, especially in the day of emphasis on communication accuracy and transmission reliability.The Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the largest new technology research and development project in recent year which3GPP started. It is regarded as the "quasi-4G" technology. LTE is based on the application of OFDM/FDMA system. The Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request is one of the key technologies in mobile communication technology. It plays an important role in the high data rates and the reliability of data transmission which LTE required. As a solution against the wireless mobile channel time-varying and multi-path fading technology, HARQ technology will become an integral part of the system. And the technology will continue to improve and be perfect with the development of LTE system.This paper first introduced HARQ technology research background, the course of development, and domestic and foreign research status. Next, the article describes the key technologies of LTE, also explains the realization of the principle of a variety of key technologies, and analysis of research HARQ related technologies, such as error control techniques, channel coding techniques.Based on the comprehensive study of key LTE technologies, this article focuses on researching the core technology HARQ. Firstly, analyze the traditional HARQ type and implementation mechanism. Then introduce the LTE HARQ technology about the coding gain of forward error correction and the diversity gain of soft combining, and study the differences in the content and performance of HARQ retransmission version. Paper also learning and research HARQ technology combined with other key technologies.Finally, based on the depth analysis and research of HARQ technology, this paper presents an improved hybrid algorithm and uses the simulation testing platform to analyze and verify this algorithm’s communication performance. From the testing result, the new algorithm reflects superiority compared with the traditional decoding algorithm.
