Electronic image stabilization technology is an approach that removing the image shake due to camera shake caused in a sequence of video images, thus ensuring the stability of the output video image sequence. Electronic image stabilization is a kind of digital image and video technology that calculated the interframe offsets by motion estimation algorithm and then carried out the motion compensation. Compared with other methods of image stabilization, electronic image stabilization has characteristics of small size, low cost, and high precision. Therefore, electronic image stabilization technology have been used up in many aspects of modern life. It has a great market potential.In the process of electronic image stabilization, motion estimation is important.The accuracy of the motion estimation directly affects the accuracy of the entire electronic image stabilization. In this paper, we analyze the principle of electronic image stabilization and basic methods under the premise of analysis of prospects and development status of electronic image stabilization. Some research about the algorithms of motion estimation and motion compensation and evaluation methods of image stabilization and so on was made. Then using MATLAB to simulate the block-matching algorithm, gray projection algorithm, feature point matching algorithm and bit-plane algorithm. Gray projection of electronic image stabilization method has poor image stabilization effect or it will cause the error stability when there is a moving target in the image sequence. In order to improve image stabilization effect, a lot of analysis and experiments were made. Through analysis to this case, position estimation method of the partial moving target and a method of pixel alternative are proposed. We estimate the position of the partial moving target using a change of gray value, and remove of the partial moving target with the method of pixel alternative. With analysis and verification, the conclusion is that this method can be well to process the images which had problems and improve the image stabilization effect. Finally designed an electronic image stabilization system based on DSP642. Through experimental results, it has a good effect of the image sequence.
