Research Of PCI Collision And Confusion In LTE System

At present, mobile communication and internet trend to merge each other, andmobility internet becomes the direction of industry evolution. LTE (Long Term Evolution),as the major technology supporting mobility internet, has been thought as one of the majorstandards for the next generation wideband mobile communication. Comparing to3G,some technical innovations have been done on both air-interface and network structure inLTE specification, especially LTE simplifies the network structure and takes use of moreflat all-IP network structure, and introduce the concept of self-orgnization network (SON),which decreases the operation cost largely.SON is firstly presented by telecom operators in the LTE standardization, whichspecifying the wireless network with the functionality of self-plannling, self-configuration,self-optimizing, self-diagnosis and self-healing. Through the SON, the operator canimprove the performance and efficiency of telecom network, and significantly reduce theOPEX and manual intervention in the operation and maintanence.So far, the research on SON mainly forcus on the self-configuration andself-optimization, the key technologies involve in Automatic Neighbor Relation, PhysicalCell ID (PCI) Automatic Configuration, Mobility Load Balancing Optimization, MobilityRobust Optimization, RACH(random access channel) Optimization, and in this paper, thePCI-related algorithm and implementation has been intensively studied. At first, theprocedure for UE to get the PCI of a serving cell has been given, and the impact of PCIconflict and confusion on the UE accessing the serving cell as well as the mothod ofautomatic neighbor relationship forming has been analyzed. Then, aiming at the reductionof PCI conflict and confusion, the algorithms of PCI automatic configuration, and PCIconflict and confusion detection and recovery has been presented, and the simulation resulton Matlab verified the new algorithms.
