Contrast sensitivity function (CSF: Contrast Sensitivity Function) is one ofthe most important ways to characterize the response of human visualfrequency. It can reflect the capacity of discernment of human eyes ondifferent signal of spatial frequency. Therefore, it has an important influence onimage compression processing. In this paper, based on a large number of experiments, we construct theCSF model curves in the LCH color space and generate19kinds of filter oflightness, chroma, and hue angle, which based on a variety of center-basedhue angle. Combined with the threshold limit, we make the image filtered andcompressed with corresponding filters and compile the C program for imageprocessing.According to the obtained images, we compare the image which iscompressed based on the LCH-CSF model to the image which is compressedby the way of JPEG, and analysis the advantages and disadvantages of theway which compresses images based on the LCH-CSF model. In this way, weprovide a new way to the study of image compression methods and also verifythat whether the CSF model curve in LCH color space can match the responseof the human visual frequency well.
