With the wide spread of communications technology and wireless city, location-basedservices are also being increasingly more attention, such as the current relatively hot APP QQshaking,4G LTE network will inevitably the popularity of location-based services into a peak,a perfect positioning system program will be the best choice of the mobile operators or smallbusiness network. Now the most popular positioning system, GPS ositioning system has manyshortcomings, such as strong power consumption, high cost, poor penetration, the weaksignal indoor, can’t meet people’s demand in the field of indoor positioning. So with thedevelopment of digital wireless networks, the service of indoor positioning system will be anapplication focus.This paper investigates the existing positioning systems, learn the basic principles ofLTE technology and communication protocol specification(3GPP), describes the existingwireless network based positioning technology, research the corresponding technical on aCELL-ID positioning system, the field strength positioning system, TDOA positioningsystem. Compared to the GPS positioning system, LTE Small Cell positioning systemachieve a positioning function indoor or enclosed areas. The terminal does not need to bepositioned GPS module on the cost and power consumption advantages. Now, WIFIpositioning system is a typical indoor location system, but because WIFI is a common system,you can see a majority of a public WIFI network, with the intervention of mobile personalhotspot, the shortcomings of interference in WIFI system will be more obviously. The LTESmall cell system using its SON technology, it can automatically listen the neighborhoods tominimize the interference. LTE system comes with TA timing mechanism, easier toimplement TOA positioning technology and TDOA technologies in the cellular systems.Compared to the existing2G/3G GSM, WCDMA macro base stations positioning systems,it’s ICIC techniques makes it more competitive in the same frequency networking, whichgreatly improve the spectrum utilization, in the cellular network positioning system morepositioning the base station parameters to improve positioning accuracy. With the gradualmaturity of domestic LTE network LTE Small Cell system network is bound to follow theexample of the advantages of the foreign Femto network. This article also details the testenvironment and the authentication process, analysis the performance of this system by thetest results. Finally it summarizes the achievements of this system, rises prospects for therelated research projects based on this subject.
