Research And Analysis Of Security Protection For The Virtual Data Center

As information technology continues to evolve, the size and number of data centers isalso showing explosive growth. And power consumption, cost of management andmaintenance costs accounted for an increasing proportion due to the utilization of data centerequipment room infrastructure and low energy efficiency. To solve this problem, enterprisesuse server virtualization technology to create multiple virtual machines on the originalhardware resources, implementing distributed data sharing, which can effectively reduce datacenter energy consumption and improve resource utilization.Virtualization technology makes data center significantly reduce costs, however, it alsobrings new security risks. Because of the virtualized environment’s unique and dynamiccharacteristics, the traditional static security measures become increasingly powerless, notonly difficult to manage dynamic virtual server pool surrounding the static safety equipment,but also static security measures might even cover the benefits of virtualization. Therefore, itis concerned to seek appropriate security solutions for virtual data center, in the resolution ofsafety concerns and to ensure the performance of the data center.This paper surveys well-known manufacturers’ virtualization security solutions andproducts, according to the white papers for products and related technical documents toelaborate architecture diagram, the core components and functionality characteristics of eachproduct. This paper summarizes security solutions can be applied to virtual data center fromthe firewall and anti-virus two aspects. With the experimental method, this paper designsdifferent test scenarios based on the performance criteria and build a lab environment fortesting both firewall and anti-virus security solution. Finally, this paper combines qualitativeand quantitative analysis methods to analyze and compare the test results.In this paper, it combines research and experimental method, to analyze virtualizationsecurity solutions, and to build a lab environment to test these solutions’ influence to thecapacity and performance of virtual data center. The test results is analyzed and summarizedto give enterprises advice and outlook on virtual data center security.
