This thesis studies the switching control based on interconnection and damping assignment for Hamiltonian systems, and applies this method to the speed regulation of a kind of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM). The main two research results are as follows:(1) A switching control technique based on interconnection and damping assignment is proposed.First we study how the dynamic performance is influenced by the damping matrices assigned in the IDA-PBC design, and reveal the limitations of IDA-PBC. It has been shown that a single IDA-PBC controller can’t coordinate the contradiction between the speed of response and the overshoot. Then, on this basis, we propose a switching control based on interconnection and damping assignment. The basic idea of this method is to assign two different damping matrices by using IDA-PBC, and make the closed-loop systems with different IDA-PBC controllers have the same Hamiltonian function to ensure stability under arbitrary switching law. At last, we propose a switching law for the damping matrix based on error prediction, which combines the over-damped controller and the under-damped controller to improve the dynamic performance.(2) Application of the proposed switching control to a kind of PMSM models. The proposed switching control technique is applied to the speed regulation of a kind of PMSM models to show its validity and advantage. It has shown that the proposed method has a clear physical interpretation and the parameters are simple to tune. Another feature of the proposed method is that the stability analysis is very easy. Simulations show that this method can overcome the limitations of a single IDA-PBC controller and lead to better dynamic performance.
