Communication field is one of the most rapidly developing frontiers in the world today,and is closely related to people’s lives. Multimedia communication perfectly combine theadvantage of computers, wireless communication and TV, thus it is interactive, distributed andauthentic, which has been highly favored by modern people. Multimedia communicationsignificantly improve the efficiency of modern work, rich in the form of modernentertainment, change the modern way of thinking, it has become an important part of modernlife. Underwater acoustic multimedia communication as a branch of multimediacommunication, which is the only effective means of communication under water, therefore itis bound to have a great practical value and broad application prospects in military andcommercial.With the fusion of underwater acoustic communication and multimedia technology,relying on high-speed OFDM communication, using voice, image compression andacquisition technology, this paper designs a complete set of underwater acoustic multimediacommunication software, and it can achieve underwater real-time image communication andunderwater real-time voice communication. The software is relying on the MFC applicationframework, the use of the Win32multi-threading technology, Visual C++6.0integrateddevelopment environment, with C/C++language.Considering the characteristic of underwater acoustic channel, this paper analysesOFDM principle and pivotal technology of underwater acoustic application in detail. Finally,it completes the design and implementation of OFDM modulation and demodulation by usingC++object-oriented thinking. Analyzing JPEG2000image compression technology,combining with CxImage open source library, this paper completes the design of JPEG2000compression codec module. Using DirectShow video and audio capture technology, slidingwindow and automatic threshold detection technology, this paper finishes image acquisition,image display, image transmitter, and image-receiving function module design andimplementation. Introducing MELP low bit rate speech coding technology, combining with TIopen source to finish MELP compression codec module. Combining with waveXXX series ofAPI functions, Win32multi-threading technology and dual Alpha filtering automaticthreshold detection technology, this paper completes acquisition of voice, voice playback,voice transmitter, voice reception function module design and implementation.This paper focuses on describing the program design of underwater acoustic multimedia communication system, the detailed process of technical means and software implementation.Experiments verify the correctness and feasibility of this system at last. What is more,experimental results show that this system can correctly and efficiently achieve real-timeimage transmission, as well as clear and smooth real-time voice transmission.
