The Research And Design Of University Library Book Recommendation System Based On J2EE

With the rapid development of computer technology and network technology,bibliographic information is now managed by computer. Online book recommendationhas become one of the assistance ways for university libraries to acquire and selectbooks. Online book recommendation allows readers directly to take part in selectingbooks, which could make up for the imperfection caused by the single knowledgestructure and narrow knowledge scope of acquisitioning personnel, thus reduce theblindness and randomness of book selection. Meanwhile, acquisitioning personnelcould know about the need of readers and improve acquisitioning strategy in time viarecommendation information of readers. However, there is few readers take part in thepractice of university online book recommendation, which results in low utilizationrate of book recommendation system owning by libraries. This paper has made a deepinvestigation on the afunction of book recommendation system of the currentuniversities’ libraries.Based on the analysis of merit and demerit of various current bookrecommendation systems, the paper has analyzed the disadvantage of the functionmodules of those book recommendation systems in detail, such as simplerecommended interface, complex operation, insufficiency of recommendationretrieval function and lack of readers’ encouragement and recommendationinformation analysis capabilities. This paper has dwelled on the technical features andadvantages of B/S architecture, J2EE technology and UML, summarized functionalrequirements of each role in book recommendation system, and designed a bookrecommendation system which fit the acquisition demand of universities’ librarieswith strong applicability and simple operation.The paper has set a system function which overcome the disadvantage existing inthe functional module of current book recommendation system:1. Function ofrecommendation option: it was added to bibliography retrieval, which could allowreaders to conduct their book recommendation more conveniently and efficiently;2.Function of advanced search: it enabled readers to retrieve more bookingcatalogue than the catalogue imported by booksellers so that readers could find thebooks they need quickly and conveniently;3. Function of readers simulation: integralmanagement is applied in order to encourage readers’ recommendation. Once achieving a fixed grade, readers own priority to borrow or subscribe recommendedbooks, hence readers’ initiative could be motivated;4. Function of recommendationinformation analysis: system could make statistical analysis based on therecommender number of each book and the distribution of recommenders so as toprovider more acquisition reference for acquisitioning personnel.Those function modules suggested by this paper has been successfullyimplemented in the recommendation system of universities’ libraries and achievedfavorable application effect.
