With the further development of Internet, micro-blog platform is also heating up. As a fastest-developed SNS communication platform in recent years, micro-blog is becoming the mainstream of social networking. With a continual increasing of micro-blog users, micro-blog begins to affect the entire social network relationship. In recent years, because the hot events triggered by micro-blog have emerged endlessly and its social effect become wider and wider, researches on the characteristics of social network under the circumstances of Micro-blog has also became more and more deep. There are various types of network characteristics under the micro-blog circumstance. By gathering data from two different kinds of popular micro-blog—Sina micro-blog and Tencent micro-blog, this paper aims to analyze several network characteristics from an empirical perspective. The main work is as follows:(1) Technology research and social network characteristics. Starting from the development of the acquisition technology, this paper introduces and uses different technology in data acquisition. The situation and performance of micro-blog’s social characteristics are also concluded. This paper also expounds six dimensional characteristics, the butterfly effect characteristics, viral marketing characteristics and consumer aggregation properties respectively. It starts from the emerging of effect characteristics and precisely tracks the entire process of its development, and extends to the performance of the new social network.(2) System architecture documentation. According to two different micro-blog platforms, different architectures are designed to realize the database architecture, framework, acquisition, analysis and processing of specific process architecture and so on. The main acquisition processes include hierarchical diffusion of micro-blog forwarding based on micro-blog, hierarchical diffusion based on the relations between blogger and fans and information divergence diffusion based on both.(3) Empirical study on six dimensional characteristics based on Sina micro-blog. By using simulated logging in and the characteristics topic of the "Internet of Things" to gather the top bloggers in Sina micro-blog, and through a cycle of fans gathering and processing to establish the basic dataset, the dataset is used as the research subject to design and analyze the real existence of six dimensional characteristics under the circumstance of micro-blog and the performance of the new features in a new environment.(4) Empirical study on the butterfly effect based on Sina micro-blog. By simulating the login in Sina micro-blog and using advanced search interface to analyze the topic "Jocie Guo events". This paper discusses the influence of main events on the development of the whole event from a macro point of view, and the important role of every atom (individuals in an event) in the whole event from the microcosmic angle, shows the butterfly effect on this event with the changes of initial conditions respectively from perspectives of macro and micro.(5) Empirical study on viral propagation based on Tencent micro-blog. This paper uses the SDK interface to obtain all the relevant data from the micro-blog forwarding hierarchical diffusion and bloggers-fans hierarchical diffusion, then put forward hierarchical diffusion by analyzing and processing for message, discusses the viral propagation characteristics reflected in Jocie Guo event from the above three aspects.(6) Empirical study on the characteristics of aggregation of consumers based on Tencent micro-blog. This paper concludes the acquisition processes of Sina micro-blog and Tencent micro-blog, collects the millet’s official micro-blog, obtains every record of micro-blog and the growth of whole forwarding and the typical micro-blog forwarding by statistical processing, then to discuss the specific role of consumers’aggregation properties in the micro-blog marketing.By designing relevant experiments from different network characteristics, this paper analyzes the system by designing and implementing micro-blog data acquisition. Regarding the event in recent two years as the breakthrough point to conduct relevant experiment, this paper considers the constraints on the reality condition in the micro-blog environment and some new changes of social networks in the Internet environment. From the perspective of the data, this paper confirms six dimensional characteristics, the butterfly effect, viral marketing and aggregation behavior of consumers, and illustrates their characteristics and performance which are different from the traditional social network to some degree.
