As one of the important directions of CAD, parametric design is always the topic of most concern. In parametric design software industry, there is already a group of outstanding parametric design software, such as AutoCADs Solid Works and so on. As the product of elevator industry has its own characteristics of using, and has a strict demand for safety, and because of the diverse requirement of customers, the product’s reusability is not good. These factors lead the design of today to a long cycle, low efficiency, and low accuracy process.This thesis carries out a parametric design platform, which will be used in the integral design of the product in elevator manufacturers. It is a part of the elevator design system that is developed based on the actual problems of XIZI OTIS, cooperating with the interface subsystem and process design subsystem, completing the design of the elevator. The implementation of this platform mainly applies the VSTO for secondary development to excel, providing a special operation for the elevator parametric design, expect for the graphical portion. The function of this platform is selecting the different document template base on different design stages; and initialing the template into a convenient design environment. It enables the design engineer to complete the data editing operation fast and accurately, and then reads the data automatically, generating the VB code which is regarded as the middle code, using the VB code to generate a DLL file which can be used in the calculation. At last, it calls data work station to calculate the DLL file, generating part number tree and BOM list.This thesis starts from the existing problems in parametric design of the XIZI OTIS, Firstly, the background of the parametric design and some key technology used in platform implementation are briefly introduced, then the requirement analysis, design and implementation of platform are mainly described. The requirement analysis introduces the requirements of the functions in each module respectively; the section of platform design introduces the overall implement framework with different modules, and briefly introduces the database design; the part of platform implement describes the implementation of all functions in each module. Finally, an objective evaluation of the platform is given by carrying out a comprehensive system testing.
