As the field of wireless communication is playing an important role in our life. Antenna is regarded as the key part of wireless communication system, which is responsible for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic waves. Antenna is directly related to the communication quality. Indicators of antenna technology are more and more strict. Based on the new demands and applications of wireless communication, the paper will research the horizontally polarized antenna in the field of Radio Frequency Identification which is at the UHF band. The paper has significant reference on horizontally polarized omnidirectional antenna for engineering design. The main contents include the following:1. The background and significance of this work are introduced, as well as the developments and progresses of international research about this area. And then, the main contents of the work and arrangements of this paper are summarized.2. The important parameters of horizontally polarized omnidirectional antenna are introduced, and the pricinple of loop antenna in both cases of uniform current distribution and sinusoidal current distribution, which can generate a horizontally polarized antenna, are analyzed.3. The paper comprehensively analyzes the principle, basic radiation mechanism and designing idea about the typical Alford loop antenna. Related to its referring literatures, the paper designs a square structure loop model worked at the frequency of2.45GHz.The influence of each antenna parameter for the VSWR and of azimuth roundness of antenna pattern are analyzed. Then, an improved solution to make the antenna’s size smaller is presented.4. Description of simulation software, processing equipment and testing instruments are briefly introduced. This paper mainly developes a square double Z shaped compact omni-directional horizontally polarized vehicle unlock antenna at the frequency of433.92MHz. Then I manufactured the real objects based on the simulation results. Antenna was tested in the microwave antenna anechoic chamber to obtain their electrical performance parameters. The test results and simulation results are basically identical.This antenna can meet the requirements of designing targets. Then the paper discusses the reasons of error and proposes solutions for such research in related fields for obtaining more engineering experience.
