With the rapid development of IR technology, more requires are required for it. And the IR systems have changed from the fixed focus to variable focus systems, then to zoom systems. The performance of zoom systems also improved: to increase the field of view, longer focus length and steady of the zoom process, bear of temperature changing, and kinds of shock generated with working. With the increased of requires, it is necessary to study the mechanical of IR zoom system.It is studied the machinery of IR zoom systems from some aspects. Firstly, the theory and the methods of IR zoom systems have been studied in this paper. It is used the cam to achieve zoom through the study of methods of IR zoom systems. It is designed the cam and has the cam curve optimization in order to achieve fast, steady zoom system. Then the fixed methods of opto-mechanical were studied in this paper, by use reasonable methods the IR zoom systems could bear the shock of generate by mechanical and temperature change. Also the effect of local of image plane generated by temperature change was also studied in the paper. Based on these analysis, the design of IR zoom system machinery was given in this paper.
