The infrared imaging technology has been widely used in civilian field. Due to the impact of various factors, leading to the output of the infrared image quality of thermal infrared imager is not high. To improve the quality of the infrared image, It is necessary to enhance the infrared image for further observation and research. We adopt DSP to achieve the enhancement of infrared video in this design.In this paper, we study the theory of infrared video enhancement algorithm. And based on several infrared video enhancement algorithms, we give some experimental results figures under VC software development environment. By analyzing and summarizing the results, we compare the performance of those enhancement algorithms. Then we completed the hardware design of the infrared video enhancement system, which uses high-performance digital signal processor(TMS320DM6446) as the core device. As well, we introduce the design of each hardware module in detail. Finally, the algorithm is ported to the hardware platform to debug and verify. The experimental results show that, infrared video enhancement system designed by this paper can achieve real-time enhancement for Infrared video.
