Optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) and dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) is an effective way to improve the capacity of optical fiber communications. The demand for broadband is exploding with the rapid development of cloud computing, online video, intelligent television and other emerging technologies. Therefore, improving the optical communication capacity becomes the focus of the study of communication system. The topic of this paper is of great significance, and we take a deep study on the key technologies of OTDM/WDM systems.The main contents and results are as follows:The making and approval completion of the20GHz optical time division multiplexer are completely finished. Firstly, based on theoretical calculations of the multiplexer delay, the fiber is welded using Whiteman interferometer structure, and then the work of multiplexer package is completed. Then, parameters such as the insertion loss, wavelength flatness, output optical pulses and output optical pulse peak flatness are measured.Simulation experiments are took in OTDM system, WDM system as well OTDM/WDM hybrid system. The effects of parameters as dispersion coefficient, nonlinearity, transmission distance and signaling rate on OTDM transmission performance are studied; The effect of the transmission distance on40Gb/s WDM transmission system with eight channels and20Gb/s WDM transmission system with sixteen channels is also studied; For OTDM/WDM hybrid system, the effect of channel spacing is also studied. The simulation result is instructive for improving the existing experiment system.
