As an important branch in the area of Computer Vision, the technology of the detection and tracking of the moving targets has been widely used in many fields, such as National Defense and Military Strategies, Artificial Intelligence, Traffic Control, Security Technologies, Automatic Control, Medically assisted detection. The DSP processor has a powerful capability of signal processing, low in price and easy to be integrated. As a result, it is undoubtedly worthy researching that build a system about the detection and tracking of the moving targets on the hardware platform of the DSP processor.Based on the research of the hardware platform of TMS320DM642processor, we have designed a system about the detection and tracking of the moving targets whose core is the hardware platform. The design can be divided into three modules:image acquisition, image processing, tracking and control. In order to obtain high-quality images for subsequent processing, we use Gaussian smoothing filter algorithm for image preprocessing in the module of image acquisition. While the use of the algorithm of calculus of differences between frames and a simplified algorithm of the detection of connected component make it faster and efficiently when detecting and recognizing the multi moving targets in the module of image processing. To improve the real-time performance of the system, the algorithm of prediction by function-fitting is applied in the module of tracking and control. Finally, debug and optimize the programs repeatedly in the software platform. Eventually, through several tests, we validate the feasibility of system proposed by the paper.A systematically summary and outlook about the implementation of hardware and software in the system are made in the final of paper.
