As the high-speed development of LED (Light Emitting Diode) industry, the demand of social talents who has the skill of advanced applications of the LED is growing. The attention of basic education for semiconductor lighting has been paid by universities, while training more professional counterparts talent has become essential.In accordance with the existing teaching mode, only theoretical teaching for the LED is not enough. Professional aspects of physics experiment shoud be the focus of LED technology teaching, but it’s obvious that the related existing laboratory equipments are in insufficient, such as the incomplete parameter, the measurement method that do not meet the industry standards, etc, and these deficiencies will greatly affect the quality of teaching LED professional knowledge. For this, in this paper, we presented a new and synthesized LED characteristic measurement apparatus, which is very suitable for teaching purposes. It contains four measurement modules such as electrical characteristics measurement, the optical spatial distribution characteristic measurement, luminosity-color measurement module and thermal properties measurement. The design of system architecture is different from the mainstream integrated, large-scale industrial test equipment, using the style of modular and division of experimental teaching structure will be the focus of this study. By using this kind of style, we can not only increase the students’ practical aspects, but also the express of experiment principle become more clearly by supplementing humanized interactive experimental software. To embody the feature of comprehensive and professional, the parameters refer to the syllabus and the important industry data strictly, which contains the electrical,optical, color, thermal properties and interrelated parameters, and the testing principle refer to the current domestic and international authoritative testing standards, such as the the domestic industry standard "The method of semiconductor light-emitting diode testing", CIE127-2007"Measurement of LEDS" published by CIE, etc.As a whole, the design of the entire apparatus will based on common styles of college teaching instruments, and supported by professional industrial measurement "elements", so that the entire apparatus has dual characteristics of "the experimental teaching" and "engineering practice", for this design, it has greatly made up for the deficiencies of the existing experimental system.
