IMT-Advanced that is typically the fourth generation mobile communication (4G)appears to be in order to meet the increasing demand for high-speed service.LTE-Advanced, one of the IMT-Advanced standards is the evolution of LTE standard.As a solution to the request of IMT-Advanced systems, some new technologies wereintroduced to LTE-Advanced standard, such as relay, carrier aggregation, coordinatedmultiple points transmission/reception and so on. For the implementation ofLTE-Advanced system, relay is one important technology to meet the requirement ofIMT-Advanced system.Relay as a low-cost and low-power wireless access node compared to eNB cansignificantly improve the throughput of the cell edge users and effectively increase thecell coverage. Therefore, the relay technology which is widely welcomed by theindustry is one of the focus in LTE-Advanced. With the introduction of the relay,LTE-Advanced network topology is also changed. Due to the change from single-hopcellular network to multi-hop relay network, a series of new issues need to be addressedagain. Relay network resource allocation is one of the new issues.This thesis is focused on the key for relay network resource allocation. The mainresearch and contributions are summarized as follows:1. Uplink scheduling algorithm is investigated in detail. We compare severaltypical scheduling algorithms, and proportional fairness algorithm was selected.According to the particularities of the LTE-Advanced system uplink scheduling, hasmade some improvements to proportional fairness algorithm. Based on throughputfairness and number of scheduled users, five improved algorithms are examined andexplored.2. Proposed a new user satisfaction proportional fair algorithm to guarantee QoS ofuser.3. We built a complete R-PDCCH link simulation platform according to theagreement, and assess its performance. The resultes have been accepted by the industry.4. Analysis the importance of R-PDCCH to ensure the communication between eNB and relay, and pointed out that efficient design of the R-the PDCCH is key toensure proper communication.5. We compared the performance between D-VRB mapping and L-VRB mapping,the same to interleaved mode and non-interleaved mode. The results show that, we canimprove R-PDCCH’s performance by D-VRB mapping and interleaved mode whilereduce its BLER.
