With the development of higher education, it is quite common that many collegesand universities have more than one campuses. Therefore, online testing and onlineassaignments are indespensible. To establish a network test database enables teachersto conduct exams through computers. And it outweighs manual testing management alot, for example, quick retrieval, convenient inquiry, high reliability, large memorycapacity, secure, more durable and low cost. These advantages can greatly improve themanaging efficiency of student archives and also make examination management morescientific and standardized. For a college or a university, too many sub-campuses make examinationmanagement complicated. Especially for some public courses that are open to allstudents, there are thousands of test takers each semester. Teachers are burdenedwith the excessive workload from examination paper compiling, rating and testassessment. As a result, Examination Database System has become a must for testingreform in colleges and universities.Of course, some examination database systems aresold in the market, but most of them are not applicable and user-friendly enough. In light of the current trends and technologies used in examination databasesystems, the thesis employs Delphi programming language and SQL Server2000(Structure Query Language Server2000)database to develop a CollegeExamination Database System for Public Courses and it is characterized by Webdistributed data processing. The System consists of the following five parts:sub-system of database management, sub-system of course management, sub-systemof examination paper, sub-system of paper iuput and output. Currently, the wholesystem passed all experimental tests and functions properly. All desired objectives inresearch and practice are achieved.
