Nowadays, infrared technology is becoming more and more important. It has beenused in both military and civilian fields. The whole market has a great demand for suchproducts. This paper was about to design a software which would be used for a portableinfrared system.The whole system is basically an embedded system which runs the Window CEoperating system. Windows CE is designed exclusively for embedded system byMicrosoft. It has multi-threads, multi-tasks features and supports more than1000Windows APIs. All these features can reduce the difficulties in software development onWindows CE.This paper analysed the features of infrared images and the factors that will affectthe imaging quality. We notice that infrared images has nonuniformity, low contrast, andlow signal to noise ratio problems, then get to know the reasons that cause theseproblems. Based on the analysis we have done, the paper introduced methods ofnonuniformity correction, bad pixels detection and correction and image enhancement.Considered with facts and actual needs, the paper chose solutions to solve problemsmentioned above: using two-point and one-point nonuniformity correction to solvenonuniformity problems, using response rate of the infrared detector to detect blindpixels and correct them, using improved linear intensity stretch method to enhanceimages.The paper then introduced the design of the software. The whole system consists offour modules: communication module, image processing module, image display moduleand control module. The paper explained the function of each module and how torealize the function. Crucial codes were shown in the paper. At last, the paperdemonstrated basis function of the software. All the functions had met the anticipations.
