GIS server is core of Internet GIS, in the entire system, it plays the final role of thefunction output. With the development of information technology and the popularity of thenetwork, the GIS server has the new changes. These changes include: forms of diversificationof the client; the load pressure brought by the large amount of computation to the server;massive spatial data storage and access. Based on these needs, the article research andextension of the open source MapGuide features. This article describes the the MapGuide existing functions and features, and a detailedstudy of its source. MapGuide Open Source Geospatial Foundation’s GIS server software, it isfeature-rich, easy to operate, easy to secondary development. In this paper, based on its source, the MapGuide server-side and MapAgent debug the entire execution flow of the system, andsummarize the key points of its expansion. In order to adapt to the multi-client study RestfulWeb Services, and introduced MapGuide. Subsequently, the tile cache, alleviating MapGuideserver load is critical. The cache once generated be used multiple times, reducing unnecessaryreal-time rendering. This article studies the the MapGuide storage component FDO, andintroduces MongoDB to solve the problem of massive spatial data storage.MapGuide status quo and new demand, to achieve the MapGuide Restful Web Servicesextensions, custom caching support and the core function of the MongoDB Provider, whichmakes MapGuide more value in use.
