With the development of the technology of mobile communication, Smart Antennabecame one of the key technologies of3G and the future of4G by its improvements andbenefits such as increased capacity, increased range, security and reduced multipathpropagation. While the precondition of the Smart Antenna directional transmission was thatthe Direction of Arrival estimation of the signals could be got correctly. So the purpose of thispaper was to get DOA estimations.This research was mainly concerned about the DOA estimation of smart antenna. Itdiscussed the DOA estimation of different array antenna structures which is based on MUSICarithmetic after analyzed the arithmetic of DOA estimation. Then it analyzed the effects ofdifferent parameters to DOA estimation by means of numerical simulation and it alsocontrasted the estimation capacity of different structure array antennas. After summarizing allabove, it proposed three-dimensional spaces DOA estimation by dual planes array antennaand analyzed the capacity of this method through simulation.Firstly, the basic knowledge of DOA estimation was introduced; especially the arraymodels and second-order statistics were analyzed and discussed. They were the bases torealize effective DOA estimations. It mainly analyzed the principle and actualized process ofMUSIC algorithm before numerical simulation. The result of computer simulation showedthat the precision of DOA estimation could be improved with the advance of SNR, thenumber of array elements and sampling。Secondly, fuzzy angle of the Uniform linear array antenna was resolved by the new arrayantenna that an array antenna was added vertically to the Uniform Linear array, and thesimulation was run to verify the result.Third, the mathematical model of bilinear uniform array antenna was given. The theoryanalysis and mathematical modeling of it had been carried out. The spectral resolving maps ofthe bilinear uniform array antenna and the uniform linear array(ULA) had been done indifferent SNR conditions, the performance of them was compared and analyzed. Theconclusion was that the performance of the ULA DOA estimation was superior to the bilinear uniform array’s.Fourth, it was proposed a dual plane arrays antenna made of two planar array antenna whichwere perpendicular to each other. Its Mathematical modeling and theory were constructed and s. analyzed.The basic principle was described and analyzed. It used the MUSIC algorithm to estimate the threedimensional DOA of the antenna. Two parameters of the three dimensional DOA were estimated by each ofthe Planar Array. The characteristic of the DOA estimation of dual plane arrays antenna were used to matchthe two parameters of the three dimensional DOA. Then the three dimensional angles could be estimated.At last the feasibility and the validity of the DOA estimation were proved by the simulation results. Withthe certain practicability, it could some technical references for the further research of direction findingsystem.
