The botnet is a new type of attack which is an evolution from the traditionalmalicious code, it has become one of the biggest threat to Internet network security. Itintegrated many network resources through implanted bot to provide an attacker witha hidden, efficient and destructive attacks platform. Botnet attacker using aone-to-many control infection bots network resources, and the establishment of thecommand and control channel. It is because of this one-to-many control structuresallow an attacker to control a large number of network resources what only given avery low cost, it is to hide the attack traffic in the network traffic, can easily spam,information theft, phishing and distributed denial of service attacks, and presented ahuge challenge to the confidentiality, integrity and security of the Internetenvironment. Currently, the mainstream propagation model of Botnet is almost basedon Random Network, with network technology continues to progress, the deepeningof research in computer network, people gradually discovered the real network is acomplex network, what has scale-free feature, so the mainstream research based onrandom network has some limitations, can not be accurately reaction botnet growthcharacteristics and propagation characteristics of the actual Internet.This article describes the the botnet basic definitions and major hazards,profiling the botnet works and propagation, and the cause of the formation ofscale-free networks, the basic characteristics and the network model for the in-depthstudy, based on scale-free networks botnets growth model, and given the structure ofthe model algorithm and simulation results. On this basis, according to theconclusions drawn by the Institute for the botnet model, combined with the botnetinternal information transfer characteristics, this article proposed a control algorithmof botnet which is based on scale-free network.Through this algorithm, it is moreaccurate to discovery the botnet hubs, and by monitoring and blocking hubs,effectively reduce the botnet the propagation speed of the network, use little cost tothe destruction of network topology, and to minimize the extent of the damage of thebotnet.
