The Dense WaveLength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and Optical Time DivisionMultiplex (OTDM) which can significantly improve the capacity of communication systemhas gradually replaced the traditional scheme,driven by wider competition and consumerdemand. The new transmission technologies are based on the development of all-opticalamplifier. Due to high-gain and wide gain bandwidth of the erbium-doped fiber amplifers(EDFAs), they have been widely used as the all-optical amplifer.Optimization software for EDFA module is a computer-aided tool for the design ofEDFA module to improve productivity. It could optimize the length of erbuim-doped fiber(EDF) in EDFA module based on the requirement of technique indicators. And then,production operators can easily chose an optimal length of EDF in production according tothe calculation result of the sofewave. In addition, the software has a check module forcorrecting the measurement error of the input parameter. The use of the software greatlyimproves productivity.In this thesis, we made the detailed introduction to the key related technology ofoptimization software, including the theoretical basis and mathematical model of the EDFA.And then, we wrote a MATLAB program for simulating the inner-working of the EDFAbased on them. We also analyzed input parameter’ s influence on gain-flattened of EDFAmodule based on the simulation, and prove the correctness of the analysis by experiments. Inorder to provide guidance for designing the sofeware, we give a software flow chart. In thenext part, the interface-arranging process of the software and the software packing areintroduced. Finally, we instructed the usage of this software in detial and validated thecorrectness of the software’s calculation results by experiments.
