Distributed shipborne HF surface wave OTHR(DS-HFOTHR) is a new radardetection system. Because this new system has the ability of anti-interference, highmobility and high angle resolution, it gets more and more attention, becoming a newresearch direction of shipborne radar, currently research about DS-HFOTHR is still inan early stage. Because it is a complicated system, there are many problems to beresolved, such as calibration capabilities in multi-platform or cross-platform coherentsignal processing etc. Among all the problems, how make multiple moving antennaarrays reconstruct a new virtual antenna array that has a large aperture, and completethe incident angle of the target signal resolution is an important research topic incross-platform coherent signal processing.This paper focuses on array reconstruction and signal reconstruction that isimportant to receiving antenna arrays on DS-HFOTHR. First, according to theDS-HFOTHR characteristics, it gives conditions that make antennas arrays ondifferent receiving platforms reconfigurable, and make preparations for arrayreconstruction work. Second, within a situation that each receiving antenna array indistributed system is relatively static, it establishes the signal processing model forthis situation, gives an analysis of two methods for array reconstruction and signalreconstruction, and compares two methods’ advantages and disadvantages. Third,within the most common situation that is receiving antenna arrays on differentplatform have a mutual movement, it establishes signal processing model for thiscommon situation, discusses the placement of virtual receiving arrays, and analyze thesituation of moving arrays on different baseline, finally completing angle resolution ofthe target signals.Array reconstruction method is a major research in this paper. Consideringreceiving antenna arrays relatively static, using geometry-based reconstruction andvirtual-interpolation-based reconstruction methods complete the array reconstruction,finish the angle resolution, and have a simulation that compares both methods,drawing a conclusion that virtual-interpolation-based reconstruction is better togeometry-based reconstruction. Considering receiving antenna arrays relativelymoving, because setting only one virtual receiving array will cause SNR attenuation increase, it gives midpoint-based method and segmentation-based method to completevirtual receiving arrays’ set, maintaining the attenuation SNR increase at a reasonablerange. Finally, considering the maximum distance and mutual velocity, analyze thereconstruction conditions on segmentation-based method. Relative motion in thispaper are relatively uniform motion, hence the conditions for non-uniform motion canbe a reference for future research directions.
