In recent years, with the development of aerospace technology and opticalcommunication in space,the usage of optoelectronics in satellite become frequently.Opto-coupler is made up of light emitting diode and photo-electronic triode, mainlyused for electrical isolation, in varieties opto-electronics system and control system.And because of this,the irradiation damage from the cosmic rays on opto-couplers,when they worked in space-crafts or satellites. The capacity of opto-couplers will bedegraded via the radiation damages, and the consequences will be severely. In order toget the better understanding of the radiation effects on opto-couplers,this dissertationstudied the space radiation effects on opto-couplers in both theory and experiments.This dissertation studied the working mechanism of light emitting diode,photo-electronic triode and opto-couplers, and deduced the relations of macro and micromechanisms. According to the mechanisms of displacement damage and ionizationdamage on photo-electronics devices, deduced the damage functions of LED,photo-electronics triode and opto-couplers, under displacement damages and ionizationdamages respectively. Moreover, the simulation research of the theories has beenstudied with MATLAB.Operated radiation experiments to verify the truce of the models of theory. LED,photo-electronic triode and opto-couplers had been radiated by neutron flux and gammaflux—from the14MeV emitter of60Co—in different dosages. Then analyzed the resultsof the radiation, and compared the degradation results of experiments and theories, andverified the truce of the theoretical model. The experiments data and models ofopto-couplers enriched this study field.At last, proposed protective measures of opto-couplers, when it has been used in spaceradiation environment.
