During the recent half decade, communication terminals has made a rapidevaluation. Meantime, people have been used to the splendid experience whichis provided by smart phones. As a demand for better experience in almost everyaspect, other consumerelectronics are trying provide similar services and most ofthem require the support of high speed network. As a promising candidate, all-optical networks are studied by more and more researchers now.Optical accessing is an difcult problem for all-optical networks. With thegrowth of users and random access request, wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM)and optical time-division multiplexing)(OTDM) are falling behind because oftheir high complexity and cost. Meantime, optical code-division multiple access(OCDMA) have become the most promising candidate for random optical accessand spectrum management. This thesis investigated code design method in optical code-division multipleaccess for fiber communication system. With the theory of complementary, weanalyzed the probable characteristics of optical signature codes with ideal com-plementary properties, and proposed a new family of optical codes for OCDMAsystem. In theory aspect, we provided a new concept for code design on OCDMAwith a new family of optical code named as Optical Complementary Codes (OCC). While in practical aspect, OCC reduces the MAI in OCDMA system and accom-modates many users which make OCDMA practical. This thesis has four innovations:1. This thesis analyzed the probable characteristics of optical signature codeswith ideal complementary properties; 2. With the concept of complementary correlation, this thesis proposes a newfamily of optical codes which consist of sub-codes;3. Prime optical complementary codes (POCCs) and inner-loop POCCs areproposed with concise instructions for construction;4. A succinct OCDMA system is establish with Optisystem and testified thefeasibility of OCCs.
